Fost Plus is an acknowledged Belgian organization for collecting, sorting and recycling domestic packaging waste. All packaging waste collected by Fost Plus is recycled into new materials in Belgium or in our neighboring countries. Fost Plus is mostly known for its blue PMD (paper, metal and drinks packaging) bag. But the organisation does much more than that: it’s also the driving power behind the circular packaging economy in Belgium. They help organizations to make their packaging materials more sustainable, so it’s easier to sort and recycle them.

“But Fost Plus did not have the right platform to showcase all their great achievements. Their website was outdated and didn’t match the spirit of the time”, says Sylvie De Paepe, project manager at Randstad Digital for Fost Plus.

“The main problem Fost Plus had, was that their information was hard to find: there was no clear structure in their website and their CMS wasn’t flexible. Fost Plus asked us to help them solve this problem. And that’s what we did: we improved their websites from A to Z”, Sylvie tells us.

“We started by making an analysis of the existing website: what does the ideal information architecture look like? What pages do we need? How should the internal and external systems be linked? And how should we build the homepage? With permission from Fost Plus, we started building the website.”

randstad digital builder leaves room for creativity.

“One of the things that saves Fost Plus lots of time, is the implementation of the Randstad Digital Builder”, says Sylvie. “The Randstad Digital Builder is a tool which makes it possible for everyone, no matter what their technological background, to build a webpage. It’s a package in which you can choose from multiple content blocks. The shape of these blocks is pre-defined (thus guaranteeing a uniform brand), but the content manager can decide on the placement of the blocks (leaving lots of room for creativity).”

Sylvie: “In the meantime, we have also built 2 webshops aside from the fostplus.be website, and the new betersorteren.be. If you have any doubts on how to sort your waste correctly, you can check your package on betersorteren.be. The site will tell you how to sort this packaging for optimal recycling.”

“The webshops that we’ve built can be found via The Sortstore,” says Sylvie. “It’s a combination of 2 previous shops that needed an update. We analyzed these 2 shops and made an improved version. Both shops still exist separately, but technically we’ve combined everything into 1 platform. This does not only guarantee fewer costs, it also significantly simplifies the management and maintenance of the websites.
