Intertrans provides a whole range of services: loading, unloading, palletizing, storing, assembling, labelling and shipping orders, all from their own various logistics warehouses. The team at Intertrans therefore processes a lot of invoices on a daily basis. So given this large number of invoices and subcontractors, there could be quite some benefit in automating the invoicing process.

And that's exactly what our team did. We implemented a solution that can read emails containing incoming invoices via OCR (Optical Character Recognition). OCR software is often used to digitize typed or handwritten documents. The software bots are able to retrieve information from images and PDFs, for example. The bots download the attachment from the mail, extract the data from the invoice, and then convert that data into a format that can be imported into Intertrans' back-office systems.

Thanks to this automation, 95% of the manual and labor-intensive process falls away. It drastically reduces the error rate and saves unnecessary costs. The optimization of the operational and financial part ultimately results in more time to communicate with the client itself.
