why not employing an in-house devops engineer

Having a website is an important communication channel for Paddle's customers. The Drupal-based content management system has therefore been designed so that it is easy to build a website, even if you have no prior technical knowledge. The Paddle CMS Platform guarantees an optimal user experience, but needs our help to stay stable and performant via Devops as a Service (DaaS).

Today, Paddle does not employ its own DevOps experts, and that is a deliberate choice, according to Wouter Rummens, account manager at Paddle: “Employing a DevOps engineer would not give us the benefits we currently enjoy, thanks to Randstad Digital. Our relationship with Randstad Digital means that we have swift access to the services of 3 DevOps engineers. If we had an in-house developer, problems could arise if it suddenly became very busy or if that person had to take sick leave. In the event of a major problem, we must be able to respond swiftly to maintain an optimal customer experience."

"We also need a partner who can give us advice in today's fast-changing digital world," said Wouter. “A controllable release process is a must, which is why we have divided our customers into types. For example, government websites have different peak times than hospital websites, so it is perfectly possible to release them at different times. It's great to have people proactively thinking along with us in this way."

experience and continuity as an asset.

"A major added value is the extensive experience of the DevOps team. They bring the knowledge they have acquired when implementing projects for other clients to Paddle. This allows them to make quick, confident decisions and propose solutions that they know will work because they worked for another client in a similar situation."

"The team works continuously and proactively to improve the service and is always accessible. This continuity is of undeniable importance to us and helps ensure that we meet the expectations of the nearly 3,000 editors-in-chief who need to maintain a high-performing website."
